General

Connection problems to Folding@home servers can have many causes. The network of the client may be down or firewalled, proxy issues between the client and Folding@home server or the servers may be down or not able to accept client requests, etc.

Upload Problems

In the case that the client machine has a working network connection but the Folding@home client is unable to upload completed work to a server, it is easiest to check some of the Folding@home project websites for reports on the server in question. You can find the IP address of the server in the FAHlog.txt file or get it from the queue.dat with qd.

The first place to look is on the Server status webpage provided by Pande Group via the Stats webpage. Search for the IP address of the server and check its CONNECT value. Reject, DOWN and Not Accept indicate that the server will not be able to accept request from the clients.

The reason for the problems with a server can usually be found in one of the news resources available in the Folding@home project, the official project News webpage, and on the Folding-Community Forum (FCF). Especially check the subforums:

  1. Pandegroup News
  2. Data Server Status
  3. Stats/Web Server Status

You can also search the forum for posts containing the IP address of the server and/or the error message in the FAHlog.txt file.
