How do I switch from the CPU Console client to the GUI client?

If you are currently running the CPU Console client and wish to run the GUI client:
- If you're running the console as a service, you must begin by stopping the service and starting the Console client with -config or -configonly so that you can answer yes to the question about removing the service.
- Stop the Console client with CTRL-C.
- Locate the path to the Console client: e.g.: C:\FAH\FAHxxx-Console.exe.
- Download the GUI client with the same major version number as your Console client: (e.g.- Both could be V5.xx) If that's not possible, be sure the major version number is greater. Run the downloaded installer and override the default installation path with the actual path to your folding directory.
- You will find a shortcut to the GUI client in the Startup group, and it will restart the GUI client when you reboot. You do NOT want to ever allow both clients to run at the same time. Generally that means removing another shortcut to the console client from the Startup group, but if you remove or rename the console client, it won't start up accidentally.
- Start the GUI client manually or reboot. It should resume work on the current WU at the same point the Console ended.
The procedure is basically reversible if you find that your graphics drivers do not provide adequate support for the required OpenGL API (unless there was a change to the major version number).
