The logfile_<XX>.txt file is a text file containing the log messages of the core responsible for the WU in the corresponding queue index. This file is polled by the Folding@home client, which appends the FAHlog.txt with a timestamp and the new line appearing in the logfile_<XX>.txt file when it finds a new line.
The core deletes the logfile_<XX>.txt file if the WU was completed and uploaded successfully on the first try. If the results were not uploaded successfully on the first try, the logfile_<XX>.txt file is usually not removed.
There is also wudata_<XX>.log in the work/ directory, which contains the log messages of the Gromacs software. Gromacs features are used by most cores to do their simulations.
